A video game system is an interactive entertainment computer or electronic device that generates a video display signal that can be used with a display device which can be a television or the monitor to display a video game. Video game system actually refers to the machine designed for consumers to buy and use only for playing video games from a personal computer, or arcade machines that are present at the gaming arcades designed for businesses that buy and then charge others to play.

The video game systems are also referred as the video consoles in the manuals of video game systems of slightly earlier generations. The term "video" in video game console is the thing that can play games referring to the display device but these days the term video game now includes all display types and formats. The term console actually refers to a specific part of the video game system. In common language the video game console is also used while talking about the specialized electronic device that connects to a standard television set or a monitor the video game system are also available in the hand held form which is a self-contained electronic video gaming device that is portable and can be held in a user's hands and carried any where.

Sega's Dreamcast headquartered in Ota, Tokyo, Japan is multinational video game software and hardware Development Company, and a former home computer and console Manufacturer Company that released a newer variety of optical media called the GD-ROM. When the rate of software piracy increased, the discs were created in order to prevent it. Sega has always had a neck to neck competition with Nintendo. Sega’s mascot, Sonic the Hedgehog with his hip attitude and style, was marketed as a "cooler kid” than Mario, Nintendo's mascot. The PlayStation was the first of the PlayStation series of video game devices which was first created and released in Japan. The Sega released its  Dreamcast which was not only competitive price wise, partly due to the use of off-the-shelf components, but it also featured technology that allowed for more technically impressive games than its direct competitors, the Nintendo 64 and Sony PlayStation. But soon came into market Sony’s PlayStation 2 which destroyed the market for Sega. Play station also served as the first home game console to be able to play DVDs. Sega’s Dreamcast was discontinued for a short time and focused on making software for the Xbox and PlayStations 2. It proved out to be the best selling console of all time to date. The Xbox with its more speed, capacity, and features than any other game console is the latest gaming device these days.

The video game systems are an excellent source of entertainment. If you want to buy entertainment at low cost you can always go for second hand game systems and you get fed up of your system you can sell it to buy a better version.
