The Play station and Xbox are the newer generation games. However even their games are available at low costs either online or at different gaming arcade. You can ask your kids to be patient for a while. Let the hype of the new game drop down and then you can buy them at great discounted prices.

Computers as in the personal computers offer a large variety of games. Some simple games are already present in the computer like solitaire; hearts, free cell, pin ball and minesweeper other have to be downloaded. The games can be downloaded from game CDs and DVDs or simply downloaded from the internet. If you have access to a good broad band cable net you can even allow your child to play online games. He can enjoy playing against the computer or even against real life opponents sitting halfway across the world. You will have to keep an eye on your child while allowing for internet games so that he does not meet the wrong company.

If you find all of these options not possible you can always bring some board games. Board games are the cheapest source of great entertainment.
